Genuine threat or attempt to grow powers of the secret state?
A Columbus, Ohio resident has been charged with a number of crimes related to an alleged plot to bomb tourist targets in Europe. According to the indictment, Christopher Paul, now 43, plotted with an “unidentified co-conspirator” to attack resorts back in 1999 and 2000. Paul allegedly journeyed to Germany in furtherance of the “plot,” and went to Afghanistan in 1990 and 1991 (for reasons apparently unrelated to the “plot.”) The charges include conspiracy to use a “weapon of mass destruction.”
Worryingly, the extreme age of the crimes linked to these charges seem to be linked to Christopher Paul’s alleged Islamist beliefs, not to any attacks, none of which were carried out according to the government. While Islam is a serious problem, so too is the extent to which the freedoms of Americans have been eroded in the name of “fighting terror.” The apparent use of a confidential informant sends signals of potential government malfeasance, as does other information contained in the document, such as the fact that Christopher Paul supposedly “watched videos” with other Muslims and expressed anger at how he believed his co-religionists were maltreated. Neither action is illegal but seems to be presented as backup to the charges themselves.Islam is growing rapidly in black America, which seems to worry certain powers that be. Only recently a nearly-comical black “Muslim” “plot” was broken up with great federal fanfare. However, the targets, members of the Seas of David group in Florida, were actually voodoo cultists. They were never in contact with any Islamists at any point: their supposed al-Qaeda contact being a federal agent all along. So poor were the alleged terror gang that agents had to follow them as they took public buses and they even asked “al-Qaeda” for shoes.
