Counterpower
Swindon correspondent reports.
As many of you will be aware, Wiltshire BNP has been operating patrols in Corsham and Calne. This is due to local police failures and the unwillingness of the local council to eliminate the causes of these problems.
However, Wiltshire BNP is now able to announce that we are looking into setting up similar patrols in Swindon piloted in one particularly high crime area, Park North. This is due wholly to requests from concerned local residents.
There have been several incidents over the past few weeks that have stimulated the local group’s wishes to establish these patrols. We have received reports of a gang of 15 youths terrorising pensioners in the area. In one incident the gang jumped over a fence into a communal garden and proceeded to rip down washing lines, smash plant pots and verbally abuse local residents. The police failed to send anyone to speak to local residents and failed to catch the thugs involved, despite several calls to the 999 emergency hotline. In another incident a man was repeatedly stamped on the head by one of these gangs, all because he had the courage to stand up to them.In a more recent incident, 30 plus youths were seen terrorising local old aged pensioners in the flats immediately adjacent to Welcombe Avenue. As it is the police were called, but after several hours the youths in question were still there and the police had not bothered to show up. It was only after the son of one of the residents threatened to do something about the problem himself that the police bothered to show up. Such crass disregard for the law abiding majority – the very people who pay their wages – is a prime example of just how Wiltshire police are failing.
Now granted, the Advertiser did say that a police officer was out that night, but the bottom line is simple; it was nothing more than a small and pathetic show of policing for the press. The truth is that the police are understaffed and over stretched. The BNP’s aims are simple; to provide a presence on the streets in order to prevent all antisocial behaviour.
