BNP breaks new ground, future success forthcoming
After the dust has settled from a very hectic and well fought election campaign in England’s old capital city, it has become very clear that the potential for the BNP in Jorvik, or York as the city is now called, is endless.
Four years ago there were no candidates in York. This time round there were nine. All nine were well respected local people, from people in their early twenties, to those who are now retired. Standing nine candidates in itself was a fantastic achievement, especially given the fact that York has never been plagued by the problems that now trouble many other of our once fine cities.
All nine candidates did remarkably well; the highest share of the vote went to Acomb candidate Ian Dawson, who in polling 520 votes received 10% of the vote beating both the Lib Dems, the Green, and one of the Tories. Our party percentage would have been much higher if we had of stood two candidates in the ward, and would easily have passed 15%.
The highest number of votes received went to well respected local man Geoff Carr, who polled 620 votes in the Haxby & Wigginton ward – another fantastic achievement which beat both the Labour candidates. Our sole lady candidate Michaela Knight polled an impressive 463 votes in a ward where the election leaflet was the first BNP leaflet ever to be put out.
