Welcome to Western Voices, I’m John Young.
I was planning to speak with you this week about Peak Oil, but late last week the U.S. Senate made it necessary for me to address another issue instead, an issue sufficiently serious that both your attention and action are required.
As you know, European Americans United is opposed to all illegal immigration, and seeks substantial reforms of legal immigration as well. As Pat Buchanan pointed out in his most recent book, “State of Emergency,” the massive wave of Third World immigration threatens to overwhelm us and destroy our way of life by transforming the land where our fathers died into a Third World pesthole. As you also know, most Americans favor an outright moratorium on ALL immigration, and the deportation of illegals. In the face of this, the U.S. Senate reached a compromise late last week on what proponents euphemistically call “comprehensive immigration reform.” Of course, like so many focus-group-tested phrases used by our political class, the term is deceptive regarding what it entails. The term “comprehensive” in this case means that it includes a “path to citizenship” for invaders who have already broken our laws, and a guest worker program to flood our labor markets with even more underpriced labor. Of course, since the bill they approved is twice as thick as a Bible, the odds are slim that most of the Senators actually read the bill.
It is critically important that you contact your Senator and Representative immediately – on Monday – to let him or her know that voting for any bill that allows a path to citizenship for illegal aliens is completely unacceptable. I’ll give out the numbers later in the broadcast.
Phone calls to Representatives have an impact. If you call, and are firm but polite and leave your address with the staff member who takes your call, that information will be provided to your representative. Certainly, for hard-core left-wingers intent on our nation’s destruction like Ted Kennedy, your call won’t make a difference. Nor will it make a difference for folks like John McCain who, in spite of his heroic service to our country seems more intent on doing George Soros’ bidding than what is right for the country. But for a lot of Representatives, both Democrat and Republican, your call WILL make a difference.
European Americans United is a mainstream organization composed of regular people who legitimately wish to advance the interests of our folk. As a mainstream organization, we seek to engage the system rather than avoid it. One part of that is contacting elected officials as needed. Right now, it is desperately needed.
In all likelihood, if you are listening to my voice, you already know how bad immigration has been for this country and for our people since 1965. But I’d like to cover the bases anyway, to help share the intellectual ammunition that can make great talking points when calling elected officials.
1. Immigration has contributed to an expanding income divide in this country with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. It has caused a stagnation of wages among our low-skilled workers who compete with illegal immigrants and among our high-skilled workers competing against foreign workers with H and L Visas. Wages are actually at the tipping point of decline. This expanding income divide duplicates Third World economic conditions.
2. Illegal immigration in particular has subjected the American population to an unprecedented wave of violence. Illegal aliens literally murder twelve Americans per day on average. These victims are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters — people whose untimely and unnecessary deaths affect their loved ones for the rest of their remaining lives. In fact, since 2001, more Americans have died at the hands of these illegal invaders than have died in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq combined. That’s 21,900 Americans slaughtered by people who shouldn’t even be here since 2001.
3. Illegal immigrants have put a heavy drain on our health care infrastructure, resulting in the closings and bankruptcy of dozens of hospitals. It is impossible to calculate how many people now get inferior health care or even die during ambulance rides because they now have to go to hospitals further away. In the long run, the strain on our health care system threatens to create a two-tier system where good health care is available only to the wealthy while everyone else has to settle for Third-World-level services.
4. Illegal immigration is fueling a return to the days of the robber barons, sweat shops, child labor and outright slavery. For examples, look at the bibliography in the text version of this broadcast.
5. Illegal immigration is putting a heavy drain on our social service and educational systems, causing continual budget over-runs and tax increases. A new study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform demonstrated, for example, that illegal aliens are costing New Jersey texpayers an impressive $2.1 Billion (with a B) yearly.
6. Illegal immigration is pushing the United States’ population upwards just as we are on the cusp of a peak oil crisis as reported by the Government Accountability Office.
It isn’t just the big picture issues like what I’ve listed above, either. Mortgage companies give mortgage loans to illegal immigrants. Whenever you use an ATM machine, you have to select a language. Whenever you call a major corporation, you have to “press 1 for English.” There are huge language barriers confronting us in daily life. Telemarketers are impossible to understand, clerks simply shrug because they don’t know what we are saying, folks on the other end of the phone when we need help don’t know what we are talking about and ship the wrong products. Simply gaining proficiency in Spanish wouldn’t be enough, since the ballots for elections in many major cities are now printed in a half-dozen languages. We have diseases breaking out all over that were long extinct in the West due to illegal immigration. Recently, I had a fender-bender with a Chinese lady who tapped my car with hers. She conscientiously pulled over to exchange paperwork, but I couldn’t understand a word she said and she couldn’t understand me. The Fung Wah bus company has had several incidents where passenger safety has been compromised because, in violation of federal law, the bus drivers didn’t speak conversational English. All over America people have contracted hepatitis from Third World fast food workers who came into this country infected and won’t follow basic Western standards of personal cleanliness.
Just a couple of months ago, officials arrested four people who had been employing 500 illegal aliens in sweatshop conditions in Massachusetts. They weren’t even allowed to use toilet paper, and were worked 16 hours a day. These are the “jobs Americans don’t want” that George Bush is talking about. Sweat shops are a growth industry in this country, and they are fueled by illegal immigration. Today, it is illiterate Mexicans. But if we don’t put a cap on this now, tomorrow it will be our children.
We cannot hope to change the system unless we are willing to engage the system. Every day that goes by with these illegal aliens on our soil is another day of innocent people being murdered, sweatshops, corruption, higher taxes, greater environmental damage and the list goes on. Future generations are counting on us – counting on YOU – to do what needs to be done.
Monday morning, get on the phone and call the main switchboard for Congress at (202)224-3121 that’s (202)224-3121. First, ask to speak with your Senator’s office. If you don’t know who your Senator is, the nice folks at the main switchboard will help you out. Talk to your Senator’s office and tell the friendly staff member that you don’t want your Senator to vote for cloture on the bill. A vote for cloture would end debate and make a fillibuster impossible. As long as the cloture vote isn’t made, it’s always possible that a courageous Senator could stop this thing in its tracks. Next, tell your Senator’s office that you don’t want the compromise bill to pass because you don’t want to see thugs rewarded. You can also provide some of the bullet points I’ve given you today.
When you are done, call back and talk to your Representative. Explain what is going on in the Senate, and make it crystal clear that you don’t want any legislation that provides a “pathway to citizenship” passed. Make it clear that the Federal government’s record of non-enforcement on existing laws has not engendered trust, and that you will only support an enforcement-only bill.
In both cases, be simple, clear and firm but polite and leave your name and contact information when asked.
Will this make a difference? Yes, I believe it will. Dozens of organizations and their members are motivated and up in arms over this issue all over the country. The Senate compromise was the result of a secret back-room deal. By demanding a NO on cloture of your Senator, you preserve the ability fo a fillibuster to save the day. By calling your representative now you cut off the possibility of a similar backroom deal. Calls count for representatives, every last one. So call that number on Monday, talk to your representative’s office, and let your voice be heard.
Write down the number – that’s (202)224-3121 – and talk to your Senators and Representatives on Monday. Tell your friends to do the same. Put some heat on them. Let them know you are paying attention. Let them know you don’t appreciate back-room deals with no debate. Let them know you don’t appreciate them agreeing to legislation they haven’t even read. Let them know they are supposed to be serving YOU, not Bill Gates, Abraham Foxman or the Chamber of Commerce. Let them know that if they mess up, you will actively work for their defeat in the next election. You CAN make a difference.
This has been John Young with Western Voices, thank you for joining me again today.
