Caste Football Looks at the 2007 Miami Dolphins

pictured: Zach ThomasThe 2006 Dolphins, coached by Nick “The Caste Prick” Saban, proudly opened the season with 1 white starter out of 22 and a total of 10 whites on the 53 man roster, ranking with Jacksonville’s annual squad as the blackest in NFL history. Saban mercifully is now gone and the ’07 Dolphins are a little bit better from a demographic standpoint.New head coach Cam Cameron wisely parted ways with “C-Pep” and now veteran Trent Green is the starting quarterback, with 25 year old rookie John Beck from BYU being groomed to replace him. Green has had an outstanding career once he became a starter, but the vicious concussion he suffered in the opener of the ’06 season may have prematurely ended his reliably outstanding productivity.Miami’s all-black offensive lines have been disasters, but the ’07 season opens with but one white starter, though this could be a line in flex all season. Ninth year man Chris Liwienski starts at left guard. He and Green are the only white starters on offense.Gene Mruczkowski and Chris Lekkerkerker are backup linemen. Lekkerkerker’s name is a constant source of amusement for white announcers, who don’t dare to poke fun at the many Samoans and native Africans in the NFL with “funny” surnames. Justin Peelle is the second tight end and sees the field a fair amount.WR Greg Camarillo was picked up after being waived by the Chargers but he’s currently buried on the depth chart. On defense there are two white starters — Zach Thomas just turned 34 and in his 12th season, but is still one of the very best inside linebackers in the business. He stands an excellent shot at being one of the very few whites who aren’t quarterbacks who will be enshrined at the Hall of Fame in the next generation after his career is over.Third year end Matt Roth from Iowa is starting for the first time and should be a standout. There are two white backup linemen — tackle Chase Page and end Rob Ninkovich, a talented second year end from Purdue who was picked up after being waived by the Saints.Backup safety Cameron Worrell is used mostly as a Special Teams Demon.NUMBER OF WHITE STARTERS: 4APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF WHITE PLAYERS ON 53 MAN ROSTER: 15GRADE: F+
