Immigrants into Britain are to be given new guidelines telling them not to spit or touch people inappropriately under plans announced today by the Government. Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary, will disclose http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=3052 for councils to tell migrants to follow British “social rules” to promote community cohesion.
She will also set out plans for “conflict resolution” teams to be sent into areas of high immigration as part of a Government attempt to defuse potentially violent tensions between social groups.
Ministers will pay to deploy experts in resolving disputes amid fears that the sudden arrival of thousands of newcomers could spark riots or unrest in some towns. The proposals form the Government’s response to a report last year by the Commission on Integration and Cohesion. The commission found that two out of three people believe that there are too many migrants in Britain. Some Government officials fear that social tensions could lead to a http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2993 of the riots that took place in Bradford, Oldham and Burnley in the summer of 2001.
Blears has announced a £50 million fund to help local authorities manage “http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2980."
She will say that all immigrants should be given “information packs” explaining acceptable behaviour.
As well as explaining laws such as http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=253 rules, the packs will also set out “social rules” like not playing music loudly, not spitting, not touching people without their permission or littering.
So there. We are sure they will all listen now that Blears has asked them so nicely.
