Black events spawn gunfire, seven persons shot in one weekend
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen such a violent weekend in Chattanooga.
Here is a recap of the string of shootings.
Police are still looking for a juvenile girl who shot another girl Friday night on Dodson Avenue.
They now have their two suspects wanted for shooting up a party at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre early Saturday morning.
Four people were shot in that incident… One seriously.
Then early Sunday morning… Two more people were shot coming home from a party at the National Guard Armory.
That’s seven people shot over the weekend… Thankfully with no fatalities.
Police say none of the shootings are related.
The quiet scene at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre Monday was a far cry from the chaos early Saturday morning…4 suspects walked into the Theatre after a late night young adults mixer and before they left two of them opened fire.
Producing Director Jeffrey Brown says the incident was not random, “This was somebody who decided there was somebody here they wanted to have something out with. I don’t think it means we’re in an unsafe neighborhood. I don’t think it even has anything to do with anything else that’s going on in Chattanooga.”
Four men suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Police arrested Carlos Key and Spearman Anderson.
Both face 4 counts of attempted 1st degree murder and aggravated assault, one count of felony reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful possession of a fire arm.
Anderson also faces 1st degree murder charges in Memphis.
Police have interviewed the two other suspects but have not charged them.
But that wasn’t the only weekend event to end in gunfire.
