Chavez, 37, of Austin, Texas, and the driver of the vehicle, Ramon Gonzalez, 43, New York, N.Y., were each charged with possession of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=4907 with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute cocaine. They were arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 20 near mile marker 102 near West Monroe (Louisiana).
Felts stopped the Taurus after he saw the vehicle drift to the rumble strip on the side of the road. After Chavez and Gonzalez gave different stories, a search revealed a compartment between one of the car’s rear wheels and suspension, hiding a brick of cocaine partly covered with mustard.Felts and Sgt. David Crain, who make up the two-man Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit, said the cocaine originated in Houston and was most likely bound for the East Coast.
