Her eyes were rolling, and she was foaming at the mouth. No, I’m not talking about Old Yeller, but rather the guest, angry at the http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=6023, whom Bill O’Reilly was interviewing. And she was blaming the Mormons.
The outcome of Proposition 8 has kept many reporters busy, saturated opinion columns, kept news anchors talking and has put the Mormon church in the limelight.
Not the kind of limelight I’d like to be in, but since when has the Mormon church been depicted in a positive manner by liberal media? According to liberal mainstream media and the angry opponents of Proposition 8, the Mormons, or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are to blame for the outcome of Proposition 8.
I think O’Reilly’s guest either failed Math 101 or failed to study simple census reports. The voting Mormons make up 1 percent of the population, never mind that Muslims are almost three times that number (I can only guess how the majority of Muslims voted on Proposition 8) and never mind that of the 36 million residents in California, 11 million are Catholics. 70 percent of African-American voters voted yes to Proposition 8. The winning margin for Proposition 8 was 600,000. So why are the Mormons the ugly target? It’s simple. Like your typical schoolyard bully, mainstream media picks on easy targets. Interestingly enough, the schoolyard bully is usually the most insecure child on the playground.
The other question I have is why the degree of brutality? Angry groups have picketed Mormon temples, churches and businesses. A Mormon temple was mailed a letter filled with white, though harmless, powder. Another Mormon temple had to close for a few days due to these protestors.
