The State newspaper, the largest daily newspaper in SC, is owned by McClatchy
after having been bought from Knight-Ridder a couple of years back.</font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″>In Columbia McClatchy let go Brad Warthen the editor of
the editorial page. Also, they let go Robert Airial, the native born editorial
cartoonist (and the only person at the paper who actually had any real talent
although he used his talent for the dark side not for his own people or his own
state).</font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″>Warthen was born in South Carolina and lived here until
he was only five years old. His family then moved to New Jersey where he went
to school all of his life and worked most of his adult life. He, therefore,
made the perfect candidate to lead The State’s editorial page since he could
(and often did) say that he was a “native son born in South Carolinian” while actually bringing his New Jersey upbringing and
culture to South Carolina for his Knight-Ridder bosses.</font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></font></p>
<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″>He is the fellow who led the five-year campaign to bring
down the Confederate flag. He said, afterwards in one of his insipid,
egocentric editorials, that it was “the hardest job I’ve ever done in my life;” that is, lead that fight.</font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″><o:p>Warthen and Airial both worked for their publisher/owners
and over a long career they did their dirty work for them, one a Southern
traitor to his culture and one a Yankee traitor to his own people.</o:p></font></p>

intelligent column in his life and a woman who is the laughing stock of the
journalists in South Carolina (this is no joke I’ve heard some of them
talking). Both Warthen and Airial are the victims of the diversity and
affirmative action they long championed, that plus being white males who made a
decent salary.</font></p>

<p style=”font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;” class=”MsoPlainText”><font size=”2″><o:p>Two white male traitors replaced by a lower-paid
incompetent woman and a mediocre black.</o:p></font></p>
