Suspected DoS Attack Originating In Russia
The main website of the British National Party is currently offline. The BNP Chronicle websitefirst reported this on May 24th, 2009 at 7:06 P.M. British time, andspecified that the attack originated from a Russian server. Theycurrently report that it’s the largest DOS attack ever directed at theBNP site. A previous attack launched on May 23rd consisted of aconcentrated burst of 28 million hits. Today’s attack is exceeding thisnumber, and has resulted in the loss of access to the servers. Moreinformation is now posted on Simon Darby’s blog.
It looks like Simon Darby’s blogwill now serve as an alternative BNP website until the main site isrestored. Estimates are that the main site will be restored to servicesometime during May 25th.
The timing of the DoS attacks is rather suspicious, coming on the heels of two significant milestones for the BNP. First, the BNP’s London Councillor Richard Barnbrook has been invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace, and Barnbrook chose to bring BNP chief Nick Griffin as his guest. Second, a newly-released poll indicates that Nick Griffin may have a lock on being elected a MEPseparate London Daily News pollBNP website has experienced a 200 percent increase in trafficduring the past two weeks, and maintained the best Alexa ratings of allthe U.K. political party websites, in particular the so-called “U.K.Independence Party”, an obvious red herring which was formed primarilyto siphon off support from the BNP. The Independenthas published a biographical article about Nick Griffin’s politicalhistory; it is informative, even if it is strongly biased againstGriffin.
It appears that BNP Chronicleis in a position to provide regular updates on this situation. If therewere any doubts about the BNP’s effectiveness and its growing appeal, those doubts should vanish. The British establishment is clearly scaredof the BNP and will do anything to stop it.
The BNP cannot – and will not – be silenced!
