Racist Gangs And Violent Videos

What happens in Denver seldom stays in Denver, so don’t be shockedif the latest trend in gangbanging shows up an hour south in ColoradoSprings.

In Denver, and other cities throughout the country, two major gangsof racist criminals have taken to surrounding white and Hispanicvictims, taunting them with racial slurs, assaulting them and robbingthem, and then selling videotapes of their crimes on the undergroundmarket as entertainment.

“They knock a young white guy out with one blow to see if his kneeswill wobble and surround them and take their money,” said the Rev. LeonKelly, who runs a Denver gang prevention program, as quoted in theDenver Post.

Denver police recently arrested 32 suspects in the attacks, and mostadmit to membership in the Black Gangster Disciples or the Rollin’ 60sCrips gang. Though most of the attacks involve racial taunting, somevictims were black youth. Kelly told gang members they could do 20years for a $20 take from a victim’s wallet. Apparently, ignorant gangbangers don’t listen, or perhaps they don’t care.

Those who fear this type of violence cannot count on police to savethe day moments after vicious thugs surround them. It doesn’t work thatway and it probably never will.

What law-abiding citizens can do is consider taking advantage ofColorado’s concealed carry law, but with great respect, caution andstudy. In Colorado, most stable adults who haven’t committed a felonyor violent misdemeanor are eligible to enroll in a training course andqualify to buy a concealed carry permit. Some courses are better thanothers, so shop around. The permit enables one to carry a gun that canempower a disabled octogenarian in a wheel chair to defend against aviolent predator.

In his book “More Guns, Less Crime,” renowned economist John Lottshowed how shall-issue concealed carry laws steadily decrease violentcrime. States have had no significant problems with permit holders.

In the midst of any violent crime spree, it’s important for citizensto study their rights and evaluate their self-defense options. Stayinghome at night is one option. Concealed carry is another. Carrying agun, however, is a major responsibility. It can end in tragedy if aperson isn’t fully trained in handling a weapon, and in the lawspertaining to self defense. If enough responsible citizens wouldproperly prepare, Colorado could become a hostile environment forvicious gangs that sell terror for fun.
