Police in Toledo, Ohio, said that residents are “tying up” 911 phone lines with calls reporting their neighbors for violating social distancing guidelines.
A social media post from the Police Department on May 19 provided citizens with a phone number to call if they want to report a social distancing violation without tying up the emergency phone line.
“Citizens: We are posting this because people are tying up the 911 lines to report others who are not socially distancing,” the tweet said. “Our goal is to provide the appropriate number for people to call instead of them calling 911.”

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced the loosening of stay-at-home orders in the state, shifting the government’s stance from telling people to stay inside to providing a health advisory of suggestions on how to stay safe outside.
“We are now moving from orders to strong recommendations,” DeWine said Tuesday. “This is a new phase in our battle against the virus.”
