And in other news, water is wet, the sky is blue…and anti-racism is code for anti-white.
The $outhern Poverty Law Center and a coalition of civil rights groups filed suit in U.S. District Court in Huntsville on Friday asking to block Alabama’s new illegal immigration law.
“Alabama’s law goes much further than other state’s, criminalizing ordinary conduct by its citizens,” said Mary Bauer, an attorney for the law center. “By making it a crime to give an illegal immigrant a ride and harbor or give aid to someone in need, the law makes acts of fundamental charity to neighbors a crime.
“This law places Alabama on the wrong side of history.”

The law is based on legislation by Rep. Micky Hammon, R- Decatur. His revised bill became law in June.
Hammon said it is no surprise “liberal groups seeking to shield people who are here illegally would seek to block implementation of our tough new law. It is important to note that our law protects legal immigrants as well as U.S. citizens.”
Hammon said Alabama worked closely with the attorney who crafted immigration laws for Arizona, Utah and Georgia.
“We are confident our’s is crafted to stand up to court challenge,” he said.
