The GOP wants to have a televised debate with the Democrats about job creation. Is it ever going to happen? Doubtful. You really have to believethat the Democrats aren’t brain-dead enough to actually think that theycould explain away their theories on job creation.
Let’snoodle this one through for a second. What was the purpose of thestimulus bill? Why, it was to create jobs, right? Well, let me tell youhow the stimulus bill was written. Here you are, step-by-step:
Obama has no idea what to do to put the economy on track, so he calls Nancy Pelosi and tells her to draft a stimulus bill.
Pelsoi sends the word out to House Democrats. She tells them that nowis the time to take advantage of the economic crisis. The presidentwants a stimulus bill, but doesn’t know how to draft one, so he’s goingto let us do it for him. So get all of your spending requests togetherand get them to me pronto.
Pelosi’s office gathers togetherthousands of spending requests from House Democrats and compile theminto what they call an economic stimulus bill.
So… what do we have? Well, here are a few of the stimulus spendingitems that were supposed to have to created or saved jobs:
How about $300,000 for a helicopter equipped with GPS to radioactive rabbit crap.
$11 million for Microsoft – which has a bunch of money of its own – to build a bridge to connect its two headquarter campuses.
$3.4 million for a turtle tunnel.
$2.4 million in stimulus checks to dead people
$20,000 for a fish sperm freezer
$356,000 to study childhood compression of foreign accents
$24 million to help the USDA pay rent
$125 million to restore trails and abandoned mines
Come on, folks. Do you see any meaningful job creation there? Is it anywonder that half of the stimulus money has been spent and there arefewer people working than when Obama was sworn in?
Obama andthe Democrats gave us an $800 billion slush fund for Democrat officeholders .. and we’re supposed to believe that it was all about jobcreation.
Jobs creation? Let the private sector have thatmoney back. Lift the threat of future tax increases on our nation’sprimary job creation machine.
