Now the wording might not be exact here. I was writing as fast as I could and can’t find the audio .. but here’s what soon-to-be-former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to say about this tax cut extension warfare in Washington:
“What I think the people of the United States deserve is a middle class tax cut. So at the end of the day we will have a vote to extend the Obama Middle Class Tax Cuts.”
A few moments for you to catch your breath …..
There. That’s enough time. We only have 46 days until the midterm election so let’s get to the slicing and dicing of Pelosi’s comments:
First …. The use of the word “deserve.” How do you like the idea of this multi-millionaire (to the tune of around $40 million or so) telling YOU what you deserve? You get up, chow down, dress up and head out to bust your gluts for eight to ten hours. Two weeks from now you get a pay check .. and there’s Nancy Pelosi telling you how much of this check you “deserve” to keep? Aren’t you loving that?
Then we have the “Obama Middle Class Tax Cuts” thing. That’s the new language right out of ObamaLand. Pelosi is following her instructions well. If the Bush tax cuts are extended the last thing The Community Organizer wants is for the “Bush” name to remain attached to them. Hence the “Obama Middle Class Tax Cuts” thing. Of course this means that if the Bush tax cuts aren’t extended for the evil rich that will have to be called the “Obama Tax Increase.”
Princess Pelosi had more to say. Try this: There is “no justification” for extending tax cuts for people earning over $200,000. She says, “I see no justification for giving a tax break, going into debt with foreign countries to underwrite the subsidized tax cuts for the wealthiest people in America.”
Now what is wrong with this logic? Nancy Pelosi seems to assume that federal government is entitled to that money, and if it doesn’t have that money, rather than decreasing spending, it will be forced to borrow it from foreign countries. What Nancy seems to forget is that it is not her money. That money does not belong to our imperial federal government, that money was earned by evil rich people. All the “justification” that Nancy needs is to realize that these rich people do not owe her or the government anything. Notice that throughout this entire debate on tax cuts, there has been zero mention of a plan to decrease government spending. A turtle tunnel here and a wee-wee washing program there … these programs add up. Why aren’t these programs being hammered as unjustified or worthy of “going into debt with foreign nations?”
