pictured: Donnie NickeyTwo seasons ago fully half the defensive players on the Titans were white, plus Tennessee had the only white wideout who was the number one receiver on his team in Drew Bennett. Two years later Bennett is gone along with most of the white defensive players and the Titans are just another Caste NFL team. When Tennessee drafted Vince Young over Matt Leinart last year and then followed that pick up in the second round with fat and lazy LenDale White, it was clear the team was going in a new direction. The subsequent screwing over of QB Billy Volek was merely the icing on the cake. Divisional rival Jacksonville would appear to be the new role model for Jeff Fisher and company. Kerry Collins is Young’s backup. Though a solid pocket passer who can be outstanding at times, Collins lack of mobility has prevented him from having a better career. Give Young Collins’ arm and brain and you might have a great quarterback. Give Collins Young’s arm and brain and you end up with Byron Leftwich.Three whites start on the offensive line, which looks pretty good and may be Young’s best friend this season. David Stewart starts at right tackle, Benji Olson at right guard, and Michael Roos from Eastern Washington at left tackle. Daniel Loper and Eugene Amano are backups.Ben Hartsock out of OSU is the third string tight end. Casey Cramer has the honor of being the backup blocking fullback. There are two white starters on defense. Kyle Vanden Bosch is a typical “overachiever” who had some injury problems and was on the NFL’s discard pile until Fisher to his credit gave him a chance two years ago. Vanden Bosch responded by being both a top sacker and tackler at end. Ryan Fowler, signed during the offseason from the Cowboys where he was a backup, has won the starting MLB job, though it would be no big suprise if Stephen Tulloch surpasses him at some point during the season given the number of writers and drunk white fans who prefer Tulloch.Travis LaBoy and Sean Conover are backup ends. Donnie Nickey out of Ohio State, who has been in well-publicized altercations with black teammates in training camp the past two summers (including being spit on by LenDale White), is a backup safety.
