ADL cite sarcasm as proof of “anti-Semitism”
Analysis and opinion from a reader
A poster at The Phora, an online discussion group popular with people of various political inclinations, has made the Anti-Defamation League, an ambulance-chasing pro-Zionist hate group, look like idiots. The ADL breathlessly quoted a Phora post parodying lunatic conspiracy paranoia in the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre carried out by Korean immigrant Seung-Hui Cho as “proof” that a Mossad conspiracy theory related to the Virginia Tech slayings is doing the rounds. The ADL claim was part of a blatant attempt to insert itself into the tragedy for their own political and publicity advantage.
The ADL unleashed an hysterical press release claiming that online “extremists” were using the spree-killing, which claimed the lives of 32 innocent people, to unfairly label all Asians as violent. As usual for the sensationalist ADL, which makes such startling claims as the “fact” that the Christian New Testament is “anti-Semitic” and that World War Two-era Pope Pius XII was “Hitler’s Pope,” it glommed on to a number of internet postings to prove how well they “monitor hate” and ride the back of the Virginia Tech tragedy.Internet postings are notoriously over-the-top and often tasteless. Finding outrageous quotes in that medium is as easy as clicking a mouse. However, the agenda-mad ADL “watchdogs” — who have long targeted the internet — dropped the ball when they quoted a poster at The Phora calling himself Captain Marinesko. The poster’s quote about the slayings should have given even a cursory reader an indication that parody was afoot, intentional spelling mistakes and all: “Mossad mustuh engineered the whole thing to make people White people think about the Holocaust and how Jooz are noble while Whites are bad because Glock is Austrian and so is Hitler- and that white guilt is lowering the white population!” The post clearly lampoons conspiracy nuts who see a plot, often Jewish, behind every significant event. Yet the ADL, which despite its “prestige” is as nutty as the nuttiest online crazies, either was too stupid or too cynical to make its propaganda effective and cited the post as the real McCoy.
Serious, seemingly inexplicable events often bring out conspiracy theories. After all, to many people some occurances are just “too neat” and sweeping to happen without conscious direction. And when events happen to serve certain agendas that is all the proof some folks need. While the image of such conspiracy thinkers deals with tinfoil hats and the like, one of the worst paranoid offenders is the Anti-Defamation League itself. Thanks to massive financial resources and the fear instilled in establishment figures they have gained a certain level of status as “experts” — though that status is often only publicly acknowledged by people who privately know better. And this “expertise” is used to peddle their own political agenda, which has seriously dangerous implications for America both domestically and overseas. Using scholarly-sounding language and analysis they have gained access to police forces across the United States, boost anti-Constitutional “hate crime” laws, dictate policy to the Pope and other non-Jewish leaders, and tout wild ideas such as the paranoid belief that the nation of Iran is plotting an atomic attack on Israel. They have even attacked former President Jimmy Carter for calling for an even-handed approach in the Middle East, and have attempted to dismiss wholesale the research work of Harvard and University of Chicago scholars John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt detailing the power of the pro-Israel lobby over US foreign policy. Another aspect of the ADL’s “work” is to “monitor” those who they claim are “extremists” — from labor and political groups to scholars and others, of all shades of opinion. The Phora incident should alert law enforcement — often the “beneficiary” of ADL “intelligence” — that they are dealing not with professionals but with a bag of loose nuts manipulating an agenda.
Part of the underlying goal of the Anti-Defamation League is self-perpetuation. The ADL is constantly in competition with other large Jewish groups for donations, and each organization seems to consistently one-up each other with sensational scare stories and attempts to get their name in the press. The non-stop noise has led to many policy makers essentially tuning the ADL out.
The poor, irresponsible and degrading lack of judgement shown in The Phora faux pas puts the ADL in the same league as many of the whackos they attack.
