Mike Nifong, who has raised more questions than he has answered about his zeal to prosecute the Duke lacrosse case, took the stand Friday in the criminal contempt case against him.
Judge Osmond Smith III sentenced Mike Nifong, the former district attorney of Durham County, to 24 hours in jail for intentionally lying in court.
Nifong, already stripped of his law license for his misconduct in the Duke University lacrosse case, is to report to jail at 9 a.m. Friday.
Smith could have sentenced Nifong to as many as 30 days in jail and fined him up to $500.http://www.charlotte.com/breaking_news/story/259391.html
