This is just another grim reminder that yes, the idiots are still running the asylum.
Hurricane Irene, a large but weak hurricane, turned out to be an opportunity for the government to exercise mass control over the people. As the Democrats say, Never let a crisis go to waste. In fact, make sure it is a crisis, even if it’s not.
Irene never made it beyond Category 2, and that was only in the beginning. After it hit land, it was a tropical storm, basically. This is the case for all hurricanes at landfall. They weaken rapidly. But our fabulous professional news media seemed to hide that fact, or else the weather scientists failed to make it readily available. (We can’t expect media personnel to remember immediate history, can we, let alone decades of data?)
Irene hit the southeastern coast, then would move all the way up into Canada–on land. Did anyone honestly think it would stay in hurricane strength? No, they didn’t think at all. The media’s job was to create hysteria, so that the government could better justify whatever course of tyrannical action it chose to take.
