I’ve seen some lunatic white liberals before, but this one is really over the top.

Remember Regina Brett (pictured right)? I didn’t write about her, but Western Voices World News did, and so did AmRen. She’s the columnist for The Cleveland Plain Dealer who recently wrote about her “struggle” with race. She never thought of herself as a white woman, she’s colorblind blah blah blah, and wants “race to simply not matter anymore.” But then she attended a four week diversity seminar, and learned that America is a horribly racist society that holds non-whites back, while “privileging” white people.
Right.
Well, if that doesn’t impress you enough, she’s back in the news today, by way of The Chicago Tribune. By way of background, Cleveland, thanks to Diversity, is back in the running for one of the worst American cities to live in:
- Homeless slaying: On June 25, Anthony Waters, 42, a homeless, unemployed welder, is jumped by three teenagers and beaten to death on a busy near East Side street while cars slow down to watch. “We have a pack mentality in this city,” the local district police commander said afterward.
- Deadly mob: On April 27, as many as 15 teenagers beat Charles Gooden Jr., 41, to death in front of his East Cleveland home, with one of the attackers then urinating on his head in front of witnesses. Police find his body stuffed in a trash bin. So far, prosecutors have charged eight with murder.
- Jogger assault: On Dec. 31, 2007, lawyer Kevin McDermott, 52, out for a jog at 6:30 p.m. in Shaker Heights, a suburb that borders the city, is jumped by six youths wearing masks, who slash his face and beat him with a metal pipe for 10 minutes. He survives.
- Girl slain: On Sept. 1, 2007, Asteve “Cookie” Thomas, 12, is killed in crossfire coming home from buying candy on a Saturday afternoon as suspected drug dealers mount a Wild West-style gun battle in the middle of her street.
- Four shot: On July 5, 2007, four men are shot outside a nightclub in Cleveland’s tony downtown Warehouse District. Calvin Hall, 23, dies of his injuries. The shootings remain unsolved, and Hall’s uncle has pledged to start a fund to reward those who step forward and give information to the police.
Of course, the Trib, being a good little paper, doesn’t mention race in any of these accounts, but you can just take a wild guess who’s committing these vicious assaults and murders. It ain’t the Amish. But in today’s article, the Trib talks about how a cop named Jim Simone has become a folk hero in Cleveland. In his career, he’s shot 11 criminals, killing 5 of them. One of the shootings occurred just recently.
CLEVELAND—In other cities, a police officer who’s shot 11 suspects and killed five of them might be called a menace or a vigilante. Probes would be launched. Community groups might mobilize, demanding he be taken off the streets or cashiered out of the force entirely.
In Cleveland, he’s a candidate for canonization.
That’s because Jim Simone is as close to a household name as any police officer has ever been in any city. Here they call him a hero and a “supercop.”
In his 35 years on the force, the 60-year-old patrol officer has made thousands of arrests, racked up a chest-full of medals and citations, been shot in the face, stabbed and struck by more than one car.
Working his West Side district, most often alone in a patrol car, he has not been afraid to arrest fellow cops for drunken driving, or the child of a police chief, or some local politicos or even — most egregiously — some members of the Cleveland Browns. Some say that’s why he’s still on the beat after so long.
But he hasn’t hesitated to use his gun when he thinks it’s necessary. And that’s what’s most upsetting to some.
The most recent incident was last month, when an off-duty Simone, cashing his paycheck at a bank, found himself in the midst of an attempted robbery. He chased the suspect out of the bank, on foot. Simone couldn’t call for backup because he’d left his radio, along with his Kevlar vest, in his car.
As he chased suspect Robert Hackworth down the street, a passing driver offered Simone a lift in pursuit. Simone caught up to Hackworth just as he reached a parked truck. Simone ordered him to freeze and leveled his weapon. Instead, Hackworth climbed into the truck and reached down, Simone would say later, for something the officer could not see.
Simone fired, striking Hackworth in the side. The truck rolled down the street and crashed into a utility pole. Hackworth was dead, Simone’s fifth career fatality. And inside the truck: no gun.
You can see why he’s a hero in Cleveland. Nothing resonates with white people quite like a man who fearlessly risks his life to rid the world of the scum who have no regard for other people’s lives and property. They’re even making up songs about Simone in Cleveland.
But not all white people regard Simone as a hero. One local columnist attacked him, comparing him to Jack Kevorkian and serial killers. Can you guess who? Yup, Regina Brett. She devoted an entire column to denigrating this brave white man who’s done so much to hold back the tide of evil that threatens to swamp Cleveland. She’s even demanding that “an outside” law agency investigate him:
Cleveland police officer Jim Simone has an alarming record of killing people.
If anyone else gunned down five people, we’d call him a serial killer.
Folks are calling Simone a supercop. If only they knew what that truly is.

Cleveland detectives are investigating Simone’s recent shooting, which is standard procedure. We need something more. We need another eye on Simone. We need a citizen review board and an investigation by law-enforcement officers outside of Cleveland.

Killing five suspects doesn’t mean he’s a great cop.
It means he’s a good aim.
Just because you can fire your service revolver doesn’t mean you should. Most cops don’t and never will in their entire careers.
Those are the true supercops – the men and women who rely on their wit and wisdom more than their 9 millimeters.
They use deadly force as a last resort, not a first, second or third one.
They don’t hand out death sentences. That’s not their job. They issue citations. They arrest the same suspects again and again and turn them over to a higher authority to decide guilt or innocence.
Apparently Brett hasn’t noticed that arresting “the same suspects again and again” isn’t doing a whole lot to keep the citizens of Cleveland safe. Brett evidently thinks it’s better that a few hundred innocent people should be murdered each year than a few criminals get shot. Then she really loses it:
They rescue women from rapists, drivers from burning vehicles, seniors from scam artists.
Right. Just how many women are ever rescued from rapists by the police? Police take reports from women who have been raped, and sometimes catch the rapist, but they rarely intervene in time to rescue a woman from actually being raped. But no matter. There’s an evil white cop on the loose so Brett can just make up any “facts” she likes.
I’ve seen some lunatic white liberals before, but this is really over the top. Even the paper’s black columnist criticized her in his own column for her lunacy. It made me wonder just what kind of “white” woman would write this kind of garbage. So I got to looking around, and sure enough… I found an interview from a Cleveland business paper with her and her husband, who are one of Cleveland’s power couples.
And guess what? It turns out her husband, Bruce Hennes, is also in the media – he’s president of a little thing called the The Cleveland Jewish News.
On top of that, he’s also past Executive Director of his synagogue, Congregation B’nai Jeshurun at Temple of the Heights near Cleveland.
I know. You’re as shocked as I am.
Yeah, Regina Brett, just another “white” woman simply trying to make sense of this crazy world, and discovering how horribly racist white people are, and siding with the criminals against a heroic white cop.
Just your average ordinary “white” woman.
Right.
